Program Requirements

The Allied Health Sciences major has a flexible plan of study designed to meet a wide range of academic interests and career goals. However, students pursuing this major should be proficient in math and science courses.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 120 credits to consist of the following:

  • Students must meet the University General Education requirements
  • Students must take prerequisite courses. While students are not required to take these courses in any specific sequence (unless indicated), they typically complete this coursework by the end of their sophomore year in preparation for junior/senior level coursework in the sciences. In some cases, prerequisite courses may also meet general education requirements. Prerequisite courses vary by concentration and are listed below.

  • Students must complete 36 credits of coursework in Groups A, B and C as described below. In addition, all course work counted toward the major:                             
      • Must be at the 2000-level or above
      • Must be completed with a grade of C or better
      • Courses cannot be repeat more than once (total two times)
    • Group A: Core requirements (12 credits): AH 4241W, AH 4242, AH 4243, AH 4244
    • Group B: Major courses* (12 credits in the CANR of which 6 are in the Department of Allied Health Sciences)
    • Group C: Related Cognate courses* (12 credits outside the CANR)

* Students should consult with their academic advisor when planning courses to meet group B and C requirements. Some courses require prerequisite science courses. Not all courses are offered every semester. Courses selected may vary based on student interests, concentration, and career goals.
