Coordinated Program

The Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CP) in the Department of Allied Health Sciences offers two options:

  • Traditional Coordinated Program which combines the didactic coursework and supervised practice hours necessary to prepare students for entry-level practice as dietitians (typically 18 students)
    • Program is in the junior and senior year of college Plus a 6 week externship immediately following graduation OR
  • Master's degree Coordinated Program
    • Provides a graduate of the didactic program from UConn's Nutritional SciencesDepartment supervised practice as well as a graduate degree in Allied Health Sciences (typically 2 students/year)
      • The applicant must apply and be accepted to the graduate program in Allied Health Sciences as well as this professional program
      • Is a two-year program PLUS a 6 week externship immediately following the second year
      • It may take longer than this period of time because of the graduate requirements
    • Provides an individual who has a Bachelor's degree and meets at least the prerequisite requirements an opportunity to complete the didactic coursework and supervised practice hours necessary to prepare students for entry-level practice as dietitians
      • Potential applicants should meet with the Dietetics Director to discuss the feasibilty of this options
      • The applicant must apply and be accepted to the graduate program in Allied Health Sciences as well as this professional program
      • Is a two-year program PLUS a 6 week externship immediately following the second year
      • It may take longer than this period of time because of the graduate requirements

  • Competitive programs that students apply to for acceptance
  • Upon successful program completion students may sit for the dietetic registration examination
  • Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education*

ACEND is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.
