Graduate Program in Allied Health, Mission Statement

The mission of the program is to promote excellence in allied health education, scholarship and service. The GPAH offers health professionals diverse, interdisciplinary learning experiences enabling them to become effective leaders in an array of settings. The teaching and scholarly endeavors of our faculty and students create a stimulating intellectual environment consistent with the goals of a Research I institution.

Through this mission the GPAH will attain national and international distinction via the following goals:
     
  • Offer a core curriculum and multiple options for advanced study to foster critical thinking, creative problem solving, and research based practice.
  • Provide excellence in interdisciplinary graduate education that is responsive to health care trends and employment demands.
  • Partner GPAH faculty and students and practicing health professionals in a collaborative research atmosphere to increase the scholarly output of the School of Allied Health that advances the body of scientific knowledge relating to health promotion and disease and disability prevention.
  • Increase funding from all sources enabling recruitment of talented students who are motivated to pursue quality scholarly work.
  • Establish a state wide presence by offering graduate programming at regional outreach locations.
