Admission Criteria, Medical Technology Program
University of Connecticut students who do not meet the Guaranteed Admission Criteria will be reviewed competitively based upon the General Admission Criteria on a space available basis.
Transfer Applicants will be reviewed, on a space available basis, once matriculated University of Connecticut students have been reviewed and offers of admission have been confirmed.
General Admission Criteria
Science Grades
General Chemistry (Chem 127Q & 128Q or Chem 124 & 125)
Organic Chemistry (Chem 141 & 142 or Chem 244 & 245)
Biochemistry (MCB 203)
Principles of Biology (Bio 107 & Biology option)
Statistics (STAT 100Q or 110Q)
And any other completed Biology, Chemistry or Physics courses
Knowledge of the Profession
Evidence of commitment to and knowledge of the profession may be demonstrated by, but not limited to, observation, volunteer or work experience in a clinical laboratory. Informational interviews with individuals working in the profession and attendance of educational activities related to the profession are additional ways to gain and demonstrate knowledge of the discipline. This category is particularly important for students with minimally competitive academic qualifications.

Observational Experience
While not required, the student is strongly encouraged to obtain observational experience in Medical Technology.
Interview with the Program Director
While not required, a personal interview prior to application is recommended, especially if the Overall Grade Point Average is less than 3.0. Students with lower grade point averages who demonstrate commitment and potential for success in the field will be reviewed on an individual basis.
