Maryann Morris is a Lecturer and Academic Advisor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Connecticut and a Registered Dietitian. Ms. Morris began her career at the University of Connecticut in the 1980s as the University Nutritionist for Student Health Services, held a joint appointment with the School of Allied Health and later worked in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. In 2005, Maryann joined the Department of Allied Health Sciences. In her position as Advisor and Lecturer, Maryann assists undergraduate students in planning their academic programs and formulating career goals. She advises students in making decisions related to course selection, sequencing of courses, majors and graduate school. She is a resource for students, faculty and parents regarding academic policies and programs. She is the instructor of an FYE Allied Health Learning Community course each fall. She teaches AH 4242 Counseling and Teaching for the Health Professional, and team teaches AH 1100, Introduction to Allied Health Professions spring semester. Her areas of interest are health counseling, how people process health information and the mechanisms that drive behavior change. Maryann is also the advisor to the Allied Health Sciences Club.
