Biography

Anna Ramos is a Lecturer and Academic Advisor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences. She is a first-generation college student and UConn alum and earned both her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and then her Master of Science in Health Promotion at UConn. She completed the Coordinated Dietetics Program and became a Registered Dietitian in 2012 and has over 10 years of experience working as an RD, predominantly in the primary care setting, providing comprehensive nutrition counseling to patients from vulnerable populations about chronic disease management and preventative lifestyle behaviors. She has extensive experience working in interdisciplinary health teams and served as a faculty member on the Complex Care Management Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) to collaborate with nurses in caring for medically and psychosocially complex patients. Anna is passionate about the intersection of weight stigma, body image and eating behaviors, and she developed an interprofessional training for healthcare providers on reducing weight bias and stigma in healthcare settings.
