Biography

Dr. Aviana Rosen is a three-time UConn graduate where she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Human Development & Family Studies, followed by an MS and PhD in Health Promotion Sciences in the Allied Health Sciences Department. She began teaching in the department in 2021 and joined the Waterbury Campus faculty in 2023. Dr. Rosen is passionate about creating innovative, engaging, and career-connected learning experiences in the classroom and has received four teaching-related grants since 2025. Her teaching incorporates active learning, high-impact practices, gamification, AI literacy and fluency, and opportunities for students to develop and apply career competencies. Her formal research background involves global health, Mediterranean Diet, sexual health, mental health, and more; though she currently engages in scholarship of teaching research related to classroom strategies and innovation. Dr. Rosen received the CAHNR Graduate Student Teaching Excellence Award in 2023 and was selected as a 2026 Career Readiness Fellow, and Community-Engaged Teaching Fellow at UConn.
