Adjunct Safety Professional


Biography

David Reed has been a safety professional for over 40 years. He began his safety career in the military as an Aviation Safety Officer, concerned with flight safety and crew coordination. He then moved to be the Connecticut National Guard’s Safety Manager to bring its approximate 1000 full time employees, 4,000 guardsmen, and 218 facilities through the state up to OSHA compliance. In this role, he was also asked to be the National Guard Bureau field expert for DMR Intro OSHA standards during its national inspections.

Following his military retirement, Reed did safety consulting and training for the OSHA Outreach program in Construction and General Industry. He then was invited to serve as a fulltime online professor in OSHA safety standards, construction safety, ergonomics, and safety management with Columbia Southern University. He remained Professor with CSU until August 2022 when he retired.  He has been and continues as an adjunct professor with the University of Connecticut teaching OSHA standards since 2003.
